Child Protection
If you think you might be the victim of abusive behaviour, wish to report any abusive behaviour you may have witnessed or been told about, it is important to take action with immediate effect. If you are a child, contact the club or event Welfare Officer who's contact details should be on display (for Modern Pentathlon events it is generally the Regional Chair who is also the Regional Welfare Officer); failing this the Pentathlon GB Child Protection Officer on 07985854393. Your complaint will be delat with in the strictest confidence and support provided whilst the matter is dealt with.
Parents, coaches, officials, etc. should consult the following flow charts which illustrates 1- The process for dealing with expressions of concern and complaints (please note the distinction!) and 2 - Responding to disclosures and allegations. Criminal matters should be reported to the Police immediately, for other breaches of the Pentathlon GB Child Protection Policy, you are asked to complete and submit the downloadable Incident Report Form. You are also reminded that Pentathlon GB has a Whistle Blowing Policy and will treat all concerns in the strictest confidence.
If you are an athlete, coach, official, etc. against which an allegation has been made, Pentathlon GB will inform you that a complaint has been made, as soon as practically possible. As a matter of priciple you will normally be relieved of your duties with immediate effect but offered someone to advice/represent your views. Meanwhile it will appoint an independ person(s) to investigate the matter in line with their Disciplinary Procedure and report the finding of their investigations to the Board of Directors. Pentathlon GB will endeavour to reach a decision about what, if any, action should be taken, within one calendar month of the event.
Useful contacts and support agencies can be found on the further information section of this web site.
