Charlie Follett finishes a fine 7th in France
Pentathlon GB’s Charlie Follett finished the 2016 international season with a fine 7th place finish at the French Open Championships on Saturday. Charlie, who transitioned to our National Training Centre at the University of Bath this autumn, was using the competition as part of her winter training schedule and produced consistent performances across all 5 disciplines. The highlight of her day came in the ride where a perfect clear round meant she topped the discipline standings.
The competition started in the pool where Charlie recorded a 2:24.76 swim, the 12th quickest time is a closely matched field. In the fencing salle, the young Brit picked up 214 points courtesy of 11 victories and 10 defeats before her excellent clear round in the ride which meant she picked up the maximum 300 points.
A time of 13:37.21 in the combined laser-run meant Charlie came home 7th in the final international of the 2016 season. Italian Gloria Tocchi claimed victory ahead of French duo Marie Oteiza and Julie Belhamri.
The next time Pentathlon GB athletes will be in action is at the first 2017 Ranking Competition in Bath. Our Under 19 athletes will be competing on Saturday 14th January with our Junior and Senior athletes competing on Sunday 15th.
