Yorkshire Schools Biathlon - Going Ahead as Planned posted by on22-11-2008
The weather forecast for the Yorkshire Region is for snow until early morning so please take care and leave plenty of time for travelling. The Yorkshire Schools Biathlon is going ahead as planned with the following contingencies:
· The swim will start as planned at 10am.
· The run will start at 10am on track unless weather conditions dictate a delay until the snow/ice has melted and the track is clear. If it looks unlikely that the track will be cleared by 11am, we will move the run onto grass.
· If you are delayed and unable to make registration or the report time for your first event, please phone Ann Marshall on 07967 918110 with your name, school, year group and expected arrival time and Ann will make arrangements to slot you into another heat. Please note that the pool has to be cleared at 2.30pm.
· If you have any concerns about travel conditions to Leeds and would prefer to compete in the North East event on the 6th December at the Wentworth Sports Centre in Hexham, please email your request to sue.hyde@pentathlongb.org by Sunday afternoon at the latest. You should also phone Ann Marshall 07967 918110 asap to let her know you won't be competing on Sunday.

Regional Schools Biathlon - Frequently Asked Questions posted by on23-09-2008
The Competitions Office regularly receive a number of similar queries concerning the Regional Schools Competitions - Please find our most Frequently Asked Questions and Answers below.
1). School Id numbers: If your school has not previously participated, it will not have an ID number. If it has previously participated, but you do not know the number, do not worry, we will fill it in when the forms reach the office.
2).Cheques: Are made payable to 'PentathlonGB' please. Entry fees are per competitor not per school.
3). How to check if your entry has been received: School names and the number of entries from each school will shortly begin appearing on the website, once input has begun. A new link on the main Schools Page will appear, directing you to the correct area, once this has started. The first to appear will be in chronological order of competition. After this process has started, if your school does not appear a week after posting the entries, please call the Competitions Office.
4). School Affiliation: School approval forms must be signed but the school does not need to become an affiliated club in order to enter. Schools are encouraged to affiliate to PentathlonGB but it is not a requirement for the Schools Biathlon competitions.
5). Teams: We do not have a team entry form for the Qualifying Competitions - everyone enters the Regional Qualifying competitions as individuals. The top scoring three individuals from a school in a class will count as a team in the Finals. Schools may have more than one team in a class. The first team in each class competing at their designated Regional Competition will qualify for the British Championships. Additional Teams may qualify for the British Championships depending on the individual team members placing on the individual ranking list.
6) Minimum/Maximum Competitor Numbers: We do not have a minimum or maximum number of competitors that a school may enter. The only maximum capacity restrictions we have relate to the capacity of the venue.
And finally, if your question has not been answered by the above:
Calling the Competitions Office: Please could you state that you are participating in the Schools Biathlon series, the name of the school and the County in which your school is situated, as we have several competition series running across the country and this will help us to give you the correct information as quickly as possible. Thank you.
