Six British athletes were crowned individual World Champions at the World Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships in Mossel Bay, South Africa as more athletes returned home with team and relay silverware success.
The Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run World Championships concluded a busy 2025 competition calendar with British success in the sun-soaked South African town of Mossel Bay. Six individual World Champions were crowned, with a further two Mixed Relay golds and a Team gold thrown into a positive week on the Western Cape.
The week began with the Biathle World Championships and seven medals kicked us off on day one with the Mixed Relays. A total of four Silver and three Bronze medals were achieved by the British team looking to show their run and swim skills on a challenging course on the beach-front. Day two gave us a further eleven team medals but it was the first of the individual success at this championships, with three individual World Champions crowned for the Biathle events. Mary Collett started the gold-rush claiming the Women’s Masters 70+ title, before Tom Ellis joined her by winning the Para PMP4 category. Martha Warner closed out a brilliant day of competition by storming to the U17 Girls title after a strong swim pushed her clear of her competitors. Individual podium success was also achieved by a further six athletes as Noah Spruce (U15 Boys) and Jillian Wallace (M60+ Women) claimed silver medals, with Zac Edge (U13 Boys), Helen Wilkinson (M40+ Women), Evelina Powell (U19 Girls) and Rachel Massey (PMP1 Women) claiming bronze.
As the week progressed, the laser shooting element was added with the Triathle competition getting underway. Continuing from the Biathle a couple of days prior, a further eight mixed relay medals were added to the British tally – including a gold medal finish for the Junior pairing of Evelina Powell and Verner Krynauw. Individual success continued as Tom Ellis claimed another individual title with gold in the PMP4 Triathle. Mary Collett (M70+ Women), Jillian Wallace (M60+ Women) and Helen Wilkinson (M40+ Women) backed up their own individual medals with silver again in their respective age groups, as bronze medals also followed for Annabelle Rogan (U17 Girls) and Evelina Powell (U19 Girls). The Triathle competition was rounded off with a total of ten additional team medals.
Finally, the Laser Run Championships took centre stage at Santos Beach, with eleven more mixed relay medals being claimed by the British team. The highlight being a fantastic gold medal won in the U17 Laser Run mixed relay by Megan Powell and William Reed. The individual titles kept on coming in the Para races as Rachel Massey claimed gold in the PMP1 Women’s Laser Run, whilst Tom Ellis claimed a hat-trick of golds in the PMP4 Laser Run. Elliot Trepess (U15 Boys), Phil Budden (M70+ Men) and Jillian Wallace (M60+ Women) achieved silver Laser Run medals on the final day of the action, with Allegra Ramirez (U13 Girls) joining them own her respective podium with a bronze. Team silverware was achieved by five teams on the Laser Run finals day, with a Gold in the U13 Girls as Jessica Davidson and Bella O’Dell-Notaro joined Allegra Ramierz on the podium to take the team title.

A successful 2025 competition season is closed out with a total of seventy four medals brought back across the African continent by the British Team, already looking forward to returning to the action in 2026.
