A top 5 performance for James Hulme and first World Junior final for Chloe Johnson in Székesfehérvár!
Fresh from his Bronze medal at the Junior Europeans, Hulme achieved a top 5 global finish in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, with a high-quality performance across the disciplines in the final showpiece. After topping the rankings in the fencing elimination and securing a podium ranking in the Obstacle (OCR), Hulme went into the final event of the Laser Run in a strong position to challenge for global honours.
In the women’s competition, Chloe Johnson impressed in her first Global Junior Championships with an assured performance, finishing sixteenth. With the fastest OCR time in her semi-final, Johnson continued her consistent form through the final achieving a strong points total.
All the GB athletes reached the semi-finals with Reuben Cawley narrowly missing out on the final finishing in 10th place. Sebastian Forrest ranked in the top 15 through his OCR, Swim and Laser Run coming through to take 17th in his semi-final. Both Poppy Clark and Gina Speakman claimed top 15 placings in their semi-finals continuing their fighting performances across the early stages of the 2025 season.
The men’s team of Hulme, Cawley and Forrest achieved a 4th place finish combined with the women’s team of Johnson, Clark and Speakman also claiming a top 5 team ranking in Székesfehérvár.
This squad will be looking to build further on their performances in the coming weeks with a training camp in Italy preceding further senior and U19 Championship events.
