Pentathlon GB Enjoy Successful Week at 2026 European Championships

A team of 184 athletes represented Pentathlon GB at the 2026 European Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships in Madeira, returning home with an impressive medal haul.

From 23–28 June, Pentathlon GB athletes travelled to Machico, Madeira, Portugal, to compete at the 2026 European Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships.

With competitors ranging from Under 9 (Laser Run) through to Masters 70+, the event showcased the inclusive and accessible nature of the sport, bringing together athletes of all ages and abilities to represent Great Britain on the international stage.

Across the week, the team won an outstanding 194 medals, including 95 golds, made up of:

  • 99 individual medals (28 Gold)
  • 57 team medals (40 Gold)
  • 38 relay medals (27 Gold)

While the medal tally reflects the strength of the team, these championships are equally about participation, development and providing athletes with the opportunity to experience international competition in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Pentathlon GB now looks ahead to returning to Madeira in October for the 2026 World Championships, with team selections set to be finalised in the coming weeks.
